Welcome to The House Of Cotton slowing down Fashion Seam by Seam for People & Brands

Bridal Alterations

Let's Save those seams and make it the dress of your dreams! You've said YES to the dress and now it's time to get everything else in line, florist, photographer, hair and make-up. However have you thought about your seamstress? Most wedding dresses need altering even if it's a tiny tweak, just be sure to book in with your seamstress in advance. Our diary's get very busy and the last thing you want on your big day is a ill fitted wedding gown.

Standard alterations usually include bust adjustments, waist and hip tapering.

Most gowns require to hem alterations.

Bustling up is something most brides opt for to allow more freedom (on the dance floor). This is a method that holds your train off the floor and allows you to walk easier (bust some moves).

A few questions answered:

When to book in with me?

Please be aware my diary fills up a year in advance, therefore I strongly recommend to book in with me as soon as you possibly can.

What will your bridal timeline look like with me?

- 6-8 weeks prior to your date will be your first fitting. Unless discussed otherwise.

- 5-4 weeks to go will be your second fitting. Please note this may vary if there are major alterations.

-3-2 weeks to go will be your final fitting and collection day.

Who should I bring? & what should I wear?

Whilst it is another exciting bridal appointment and the whole squad wants to come, these appointments are very important to get your dress absolutely perfect. I strongly advice to bring one or two guests that know your vision, and understand exactly what you want from your gown.

Some brides do also choose to come solo as they don't want anyone to see their dress or they just don't want anyone else to influence their decision! This is completely fine too. I am here to help you get into your dress and advise you with my expertise.

What will I need to bring to my bridal alteration appointments?

Please bring your wedding shoes and underwear that you will be wearing on your day to all our appointments. This will allow me to get the best tailoring results.
